Acumen Florida 6 Hour Medication Assistance (Med Tech) course is a training program for unlicensed healthcare personnel who wish to assist with the self-administration of medication by residents in assisted living facilities or adult family care homes in Florida.
The course covers topics such as medication administration techniques, medication storage and handling, medication documentation, and legal and ethical considerations related to medication administration.
The Florida Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA) requires that all unlicensed personnel who wish to administer medication in assisted living facilities or adult family care homes must complete the 6 Hour Med Tech course and pass a competency exam. Upon successful completion of the course and exam, individuals will receive a Med Tech certificate.
The course can be completed through an approved training provider in-person. Our In-person courses involves classroom instruction and hands-on training. This course is normally held on Monday’s from 10:00am – 5:00pm.
